PAINTINGS BY GEORGE HOWE

Before moving to North Carolina recently, George Howe had been gaining local attention through participation in various events conducted by the Chelmsford (MA) Art Society over the past 12 years.  During this time he has studied with some of the best area instructors in oils, watercolor and pastels.  George has been awarded several ribbons for his work in oils, his current medium of preference.  George Howe's style can be characterized as representational, with a bit of an impressionistic flare.

The painting, "Look Out Your Window" (oil on canvas, 18 x 24) depicts a view of the Connecticut River valley with the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the distance and beseeches George's sons to come to their dorm windows and see their parents waving at them from the summit of Mt. Holyoke.

This painting was awarded first place in its category at the 2005 Chelmsford Art Society Fourth of July Art Festival.
